The short version. We keep what it takes to run the game: who you are when you sign in, the handle and name you choose, and your picks. We do not sell your data, show ads, or send marketing. You can have everything deleted by emailing [email protected].
Who we are
Cagepick is a free fight-prediction game: pick the winner, method and round, and score points against your friends. It is run from the United Kingdom, and Cagepick is responsible for your data under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). For anything about your data, email [email protected].
Cagepick is for people aged 18 and over. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.
What we collect
| What | Where it comes from | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A sign-in ID from Apple or Google | Apple or Google, when you sign in | To recognise you next time. It is a random ID, not your password, which we never see. |
| Your email address | Apple or Google, only if they have verified it | To contact you about your account, for example if you ask us to delete it. If you use Hide My Email, we only get Apple's relay address. |
| Your name | Apple or Google, once | As a starting display name. You can change it. |
| Your handle and display name | You | So friends can find you and see you on leaderboards. |
| Your picks and scores | You, and official fight results | To play and score the game. |
| A session cookie | Set by us when you sign in | To keep you signed in. We store only a scrambled copy of it. |
| Technical logs | Your browser or app, automatically | Your IP address, browser type and the requests made, kept briefly to keep the service running and stop abuse. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, payment details or anything from your device beyond the above. A profile photo you add in the current version stays on your device and is never uploaded.
What other people can see
Your handle, display name and scores are visible to other players. Your picks for a card are hidden from everyone until that event starts, then visible to the friends and groups you play with. Your email address and sign-in ID are never shown to anyone.
Why we are allowed to use it
- To provide the game you signed up for (contract): your account, handle, picks and scores.
- Our legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, preventing cheating and abuse, and fixing problems, using the logs and the minimum account data needed.
Cookies and storage
We use one cookie, the session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary, so it does not need consent. The app also keeps a few settings in your browser's own storage, such as your name and photo for the screen. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics.
Who else handles your data
We share data only with the companies that help run Cagepick, and only what each needs:
- Apple and Google, when you choose to sign in with them. Their own privacy policies cover what happens on their side.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the website and handles its traffic.
- Railway, which hosts our servers and the database that holds your account and picks.
- Google Fonts and API-Sports, which serve the fonts and fighter photos the pages load. Your browser connects to them directly, so they receive your IP address, but no account data.
Some of these companies are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. When it leaves the UK it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or a UK adequacy decision.
We never sell your data or share it for advertising. We would only disclose it otherwise if the law required us to.
How long we keep it
- Your account, picks and scores: while your account is open. Fight-night history is part of the game, so we keep it until you ask us to delete your account.
- Sessions: 90 days from your last visit, then they expire.
- Technical logs: up to 30 days.
- After you ask us to delete your account: everything above is removed within 30 days. Your past picks are not kept in any leaderboard.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the data we hold about you
- correct it if it is wrong
- delete it, along with your account
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests
- send your data to you or another service in a common format
Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would like the chance to put it right first.
Security
All traffic is encrypted. Sign-ins are checked against Apple's and Google's own keys, sessions are stored only in scrambled form, and access to the database is limited to the people running Cagepick.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect or who we share it with, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
